| On October 23, 2009 in searched for a moving company on the search engine Google and found Movemaster Movers. I called and spoke to a gentleman by the name of Martin.
I proceeded to ask him their rates and availability for October 30th, 2009. I told him I had a 10ft x 18ft storage unit with 1 bedroom set, dining set, family room couches and boxes. He stated they have a 24ft truck so it wouldn't be a problem. The price was $50 per hour and if I wanted a third person it was $65/hour. I replied by stating for only $15 more I get a third person? He said "Yes". I continued to ask if there were any additional charges and he said travel would be added as one hour of labour. He also stated he will need to know fairly quickly if we were to hire his company so he can schedule the necessary personnel. I mentioned I would discuss with my wife and let him know. Once October 26th 2009 I called Movemaster Movers back and spoke to Martin again and confirmed the details quoted as I understood them: - 3 movers $65/hr - 24ft truck - October 30th availability He stated yes to all and they would be there at 1PM on move date. I asked him if the move takes 3 hours then I would only be paying $65 * 3hours plus 1 additional hour for travel and his response was "Yes". He added there is also a 10% discount for services. I was satisfied with his responses and felt this was a fair and reasonable company. He did not mention any of the terms and conditions or refer me to their website as I found out during and after the move. Movemasters Movers misrepresented themselves and they did a bait and switch. Once they arrived and before loading they asked for a deposit of $500. My husband had no choice but to pay because we had agreed to be out of the storage unit that day. Once loaded and before leaving the storage facility they asked for the balance of $397. My husband was so upset and was asked to contact Martin Maz the representative of Movemasters Movers. The same person he booked the move with. He was condescending, unprofessional, rude and simply provided no assistance. This is a run down of the charges on our bill: Labor $400 Travel $50 Stairs $80 Handling heavy items $200 Kilometers $50 Tax & other $117 Grand total $897 The hours worked 5 hours/$65 Travel time 1 hour/$65 as discussed with my husband We should have paid $390 We were overcharged by $507. | ||
